Dr. Christopher S. Lauritzen
Doctor/Colonel (Ret.) Christopher "Airborne" Lauritzen is the Chairman of the Conservative Party of Utah. Dr. Lauritzen was born in California and raised on a cattle ranch in Utah. He enlisted in the US Army and eventually became an Army Green Beret. Dr. Lauritzen, a three sport college athlete, served in the National Guard while he pursued his education; and then entered into a successful private dental practice in Texas. In response to the events of September 11, 2001, he sold his practice and re-entered the active duty Military from the Texas National Guard in 2002.
Dr. Lauritzen has completed two post-doctoral residencies. He is board-certified by the American Board of General Dentistry. He has a Fellowship, and is a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry. He is unique among dentists, holding a Master's Degree in Health Services Management, and a graduate certificate in International Healthcare Leadership. He is a member of numerous professional associations, including the American Dental Association, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, as well as being a Sentinel for the Heritage Foundation. In 2009 he was named as one of "America's Top Dentists".
Colonel Lauritzen and his wife Kristy have six children, four of whom are adopted. All four of their boys have served, or are currently serving, in the US Army. After deploying five times, commanding an airborne infantry unit, as well a number of military healthcare clinics; Chris is now retired from the military and is a professor at the University of Utah where he teaches subjects in clinical dentistry, management, and ethics. Chris has participated in a number of foreign humanitarian missions and donates his time to number of civic and charitable activities. He loves outdoor sports and adventure, and spends as much time in the Utah backcountry as possible.
